Your feedback matters: Let us know if you have any suggestions for additional resources that would be helpful to you and others during future outings.

The Route

From the parking area you will follow the path on the right until you reach a bridge. Cross over the river and the start of the via ferrata is just past the buildings on the other side.

At the starting point, you will have to go up a vertical wall and just follow the cable until you reach the top. Once at the top, the cable splits to the left and right.

To the left, the cable leads to the zip line and a path to descend on foot. If you go right, you will find a large open area where you can sit and admire the views. Or just wait for the zip line to get set up.

Zipline

The zipline is 50 meters in length and the equipment is in good condition. There is a spring brake at the end but you most likely won’t need it.

We recommend using the Petzl Tandem Speed Pulley for steel cables or the CT Duetto Pulley. Both of these pulleys are fast and perfect for this zipline. You can also use a “slower” pulley but be aware that you may not make it all the way to the end and you may find yourself having to pull yourself the rest of the way.

Once at the end, you will see a path that leads back up to the start point of the zipline. You can do the zipline as many times as you want as its quite easy to return.

Rappel / Return Path

From the end of the zipline you have two options to exit:

  1. Take a path on the left that circles around the rock and in about 5 minutes you’ll be back on the main path at the start of the via ferrata.
  2. Go back down the return path for the zipline. About halfway you’ll find another path to the right that leads to the rappel/belay station.

You can rappel about 10 meters down to the first clearing and then descend the rest of the way on foot, or descent the full 25 meters to the bottom on rappel if your rope is long enough.

Overall Thoughts and Opinion

Via ferrata Roca del Molí is a great option for those who want to try via ferrata for the first time or enjoy a relaxing adventure in nature. It offers a short but scenic route of about 50 meters, with a vertical wall, a traversing section, and a beautiful landscape with a river, a mill, and granite rocks. We found this to be a nice place to spend the afternoon doing mountain activities.

This is a route where we’ve taken people several times to introduce them to the concepts and techniques for zip lining and rappelling. The installations are perfect for this. If you are looking for more challenges, you can also explore some of the sport climbing, bouldering and hiking trails that are in the same general area. The via ferrata itself takes about 30 minutes to complete, plus the time for the approach and the return.

Pros
  • Very easy and well-equipped
  • There is an area at the top where people can sit
  • The zipline is great and a lot of fun
  • There are other climbing activities in the same vicinity
  • The surroundings are beautiful
  • The zipline and rappel are optional
Cons
  • In summer, the zipline cable dilates quite a bit and you have to launch hard to reach the other side
  • The activity itself is very short
